Is it possible to get through life without friends? - June 11th 2009, 02:11 AM

I think I am able to get through life without them. I'm just not the type of person to befriend people. I don't know if I'm the only person in this world that thinks this, but I'm pretty sure I won't have a good friend for my entire life. I think I could get a lot more done in my life when I'm alone.

Do you think you could survive?

I suppose you could survive, but I don't think it'd be healthy. It reminds me a lot of babies when they're born - they actually need to be loved and held or they can die. Mind you, I'm not saying you're a baby or that you're going to die, but it seems like everybody would have that basic desire to be loved by others. Friends get you through the hard times in life - they let you cry on their shoulders, they celebrate when you're happy, and they provide company and comfort. You don't have to go out and befriend every single person you know, though. But I honestly think even a few friends can make a significant impact in your life. Sure, your friend may not be there your entire life due to moving, arguments, maybe even death, but you aren't limited to only one good friend. And you can still have your alone time, too - it's not like your friends are needy puppies or something. But they're definitely good to have.

Survive, yes.
If you don't really want a friend in your life, thats up to you. But they sure are nice to have around when times get hard. It's nice knowing somebody is there for you. I doubt your the only one who thinks this. Not everybody holds you back and sometimes you can accomplish more with friends than without them. It all depends who you chose to be your friends. In the end, that's your choice though. If you feel fine without them, then that's okay for you(: But if you feel like something is missing and you would like to have a friend, don't let your fears hold you back! (:

Yes it is possible, but without friends we live an unhappy life. Humans are social and aren't meant to be solitary.

Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it.

Well, I'm terribly sorry to tell you this, but I wasn't meant for love and friendship, you know? Both of those words, to me, mean nothing.
I don't like people hugging me or comforting me. I don't need a shoulder to cry on. I live life completely by myself, and I don't need help.

What do you define a friend as?

Friends are basically your "ideal" family, that you'd make because you could talk to them, have fun with them, endure hard times together. Friends exist to care for each other and to "experience" from each other.

Love, just like hate, is obsession. You love that person/object/thing so much that you don't want anything to taint it. You hate the person/object/thing so much that you wouldn't care If it gets tainted, you'd wanted it to happen.

Just like soul mates, you'll find that "best friend" out there. You might just treat the people around you as "acquaintances", but you'll eventually meet. You'll find out what a friend is and the importance of it to you is. In my opinion, although it's not impossible to survive through life without a "friend(s)", it'd be pretty damn hard. They give you that bit of hope, that bit of love, to strive through this bittersweet ride, that is called Life.
