Living with a family member who has mental health problems - July 1st 2009, 02:35 PM

My dad has moderate OCD & mild Borderline Personality Disorder.

His OCD behaviours drive me round the bend, & with his bpd, well, Im just like him...I hate it....

....Does anyone else have a history of mental health in the family?

Hi Jaymi Well, my mother has PTSD, anxiety disorder, and has been diagnosed with a form of thought disorder psychosis. It has been extremely difficult on our family. As of yet, my parents are separated and are filing divorce papers as a result of the disease(s).
Also, my father has a personality disorder and major depressive episodes.
Try to just get out and create your own life. It should help in coping with a difficult family member.

Live and let live.

Problem is, I have illness as well. And me & my dad kind of connect. I see men in black capes when I am awake. My dad dreams about them.....like we connect...spookily. But I just dont want to turn into a complete OCD Schizophrenic with serious personality disorder.....but at the moment its going that way.....the behaviours and dreams of my dad, replica mine.
