Unhappy My sister....... - July 2nd 2009, 02:57 AM

My sister's making so many bad desicions. She's 22 and she's had pregnancy scares, STD scares, she's gone to jail, gotten DUIs, caught with drugs, been so drunk/high that she can't even open a door, and no matter where she lives, she's always stumbling into my room, and crashing in my bed. It's driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not mad at her, but I think that after 6 years of this crap, she'd be over it! She just started getting her act together, by breaking up with her abbusive BF, partying less, and getting into nursing school. But now, she's on the phone with my mom, and from what I can tell she's all alone in New York City, totally wasted/high after running away from her new good bf!!!! I'm so upset. I wish she wasn't like this! I'm TERRIFIED to lose my older sister! Sorry for this complaining session....

Hey,

It's okay to complain, tis what these forums are for.

At any rate I feel your pain, my sister has a lot of problems similer to your sisters. So I understand how fruterating it can be. Have you sat down and talked to your sister when she wasn't high/drunk and actually told her that you are worried about her and think that she should seek some help. I think that you and your family should try to intervene with her issues so that she can go on with her life.

It sounds like she is trying to get away from her old problems, it's a good sign the she is partying less, broke up with her abusive boyfriend, etc BUT she might need that extra push to get her the true help that she needs. Do you think that you guys could give her that push?

I hope things look up for you!
PM me if you ever want to talk!

hey hun, your sister needs help. i guess it doesn't come with just making bad decisions, but it's more about the way she's running her life. is there anyway you can get her help by dragging her to a counsellor maybe? cassie is right. you and your family has to intervene if you don't want to lose her. it may be hard to get hold of her and to make her want to change her course of life, it'll be worth it in the end. she still has a good long life ahead of her if she would turn back from her ways now. she probably doesn't feel good about the way she's living but it's her identity and doesn't believe in a life other than that, but do show her that there is. try not to put her off by judging her and scolding her, but try to get her back with professional help.
do take care of yourself. (:
