Unhappy Support from parents - November 20th 2009, 01:59 AM

Hello everyone, tell me, Arent your parents suppose to support you in everything you do? To know me, you have to know my story, when I was 14 I was a cheerleader. I stopped because my mother didn't let me continue saying that it wasn't important and allthat jazz. And for me I LOVE Cheerleading, every inch in my body aches because Im not allowed to cheer. So now after I finished high school, I want to join an all star training progrm because they would like to have me and I'm good at cheerleading! And now since school is out of the way, she still wouldn't let me go! I feel like crap and am so upset about this. She says it's not beneficial, buy I just love to do it! I've already tried any possible way to nicely tell her about this but all she does is get angry and not want to hear it. My sisters KNOW I love cheering and support me sooo much. But my mom, NO. My dad follows everything my mom says if not she'll be angry at him she never let's me do sports! After cheering I tried high jump and I was soo great at it. I represented my state and was asked to join the national team training, but because of my mom, I couldn't. I never could shine. tell me what to do? I just wanna show the world what i'm made of

Thats the thing I really have tried, being so nice and talking to her without raising my voice. & if we;re not talking about that everything is good and we're all fine but when I just bring up the topic she just shuts me out. Sigh, i'm the best child anyone could ask for! I'm 17, I dont smoke, I dont drink, I dont do drugs or have sex or have a boyfriend, I dont cut myself, I dont club.. what more could she ask from me?
All I wanna do is a sport that a love and hold dear to my hurt.
But I really doubt she'll change her mind. So I guess I'll just be one of those people who will live their life knowing the TONS of regrets they have. It kills me to not be able to do this. And my dad cant even help me because, I cant talk to him the way I talk to her and he will only support her.
Sigh.. story of my pathetic life.

Tell her it is benefical. It helps you keep fit, make friends, and stay healthy.
Or try to see, in a humble manner or quiet voice why she will not let you.
Or, when you move out, start it then.

My parents do exactally the same! I want to be a doctor when I grow up but they just say 'oh you won't be good enough'. I've tried talking to them nicely but they just get annoyed. I know this proberly doesn't help much but it's nice to know I'm not the only one like this. I've decided now that it's my life and when I'm 18 they can't stop me from following my dream. Don't give up.

Hugs to everyone
