I don't know where else to put this. - December 9th 2009, 12:13 AM

My mom is banned from Walmart for life, on a charge from a long while ago.
My sister stole something, and got off with a warning, but they had to file her, and they took mom's id and put her info at the bottum.
If they know she was there, she will go to prison for 7more years.
she's been clean and sober and out of prison 3 years now, and I'm scared.
Are they going to look her up? Help help help.

Hi Mina,

I don't know what the laws are like where you live, but I see no reason that they would lock up your mom again. She has served her time and hasn't done anything wrong. If she was only in the store to put her ID information for your sister's file, then that is something she couldn't have controlled. They needed that information, and if she had to go to the store to give it to them, then that is what she had to do.

If something like this happens again, suggest that she phone in her information instead of going to the store, or explain to the store what the situation is and find out if another relative could go and give their information instead as she does not want to be charged.

I understand your worry, but I do hope everything turns out for your mom. I think she's been doing really well by staying clean and sober for three years now and she should be very proud.

Take care.
Nat.

If they banned her just no matter what don't let her go back there. Perhaps somebody else should do the shopping if possible. It is better to be cautious and careful. As she is still with you now just go on with life but just remind her to take care as you don't want her to go to jail again.

I highly, highly doubt that they could arrest your mother for being there. Being banned from a store is an issue for the management, not the police. Could I ask why you think she can serve seven more years? The very most I would expect would be a fine, but even that's unlikely. Most bans just involve the person being escorted out by security if they are found in the store. The fact that your sister was caught shoplifting may aggravate the situation, but I don't think your mom will be locked up. Try not to worry about it.
