Unhappy popular?? - December 19th 2009, 10:50 AM

So Im not exactly the most popularest (is that even a word?? lol) girl in school. I have friends and all but im like the least popular out of them. My best friend is waaayy more popular than me and people like her more than me. I dont really know why, we are really a like in personality. Its just that sometimes, my friends have a get to together and they dont invite me. I feel left out. And on facebook and msn, nobody posts things on my wall or chat to me. And nobody really texts me either. Im going to have a birthday party in january but i dont even know if i should have it because i dont really have much close friends to invite.
any adivce?

Hi Meera,

I really think you should still have your birthday party. It's not fair that your friends aren't giving you a chance and treating you properly right now, but hosting the party and inviting them might help them to open their eyes a bit.

As for your friends leaving you out and not inviting you when they hang out, I think you should talk to them and tell them how you are feeling about that. Let them know that you don't like it that you are leaving them out and it really hurts your feelings when you aren't invited along. It's important to tell them that you don't expect to be invited everywhere, because it might be a number of people issue, but you would like them to put in the effort to invite you along sometimes. Maybe you could even talk to your best friend about this and she could vouch for you.

I know it seems like being popular is the best, but focusing on being a good friend is a much better way to go. Popular isn't everything, and it seems like some popular people are not exactly popular with everyone. Your friends are not treating you very fairly and I think they need to snap out of their popular bubble for a minute and realize that they are hurting your feelings.

So have fun and have your birthday party. You deserve to celebrate it.
