How would you feel if your friend said this to you - April 25th 2010, 05:23 PM

How would you feel about this?

Ok so one of my best friends lives at my house. Well she is always hanging out with her other group of friends. I kind of know her other group of friends and I hung out with them a few times before my friend moved in here.

Well then last night she was hanging out with them (I wasn't with them) and they were saying they want to try and hang out once a week. Well then she told them that I would get upset if I wasn't invited to hang out with them. So they were like oh ok well she can come too...

I dk how I feel about this. One part of me feels good because it feels like mabye they do actually kind of want to hang out with me. The other part of me is hurt though because that basically reinforces my thinking that they only hang out with me because she lives with me.

I don't know, I've had a lot of friendship issues in the past and I just don't want to be the one who is only there out of pity and then when I am not there they go behind my back and bash me. I just don't want to get hurt, I don't want to get my hopes up just to find out they haven't ever really liked me.

How would you feel if this happened to you??

Thanks!!

I don't think there was anything wrong with the situation. They just don't know you, you know? They are probably just trying to be nice. Hang and see what happens.

I would go for it.

If you go for it, you stand a decent chance of making some new friends. If they reject you for whatever reason (I'm just being realistic 'cos it happens, then don't push anymore. If you don't go for it... you will always feel like you are missing out on something, every time your best friend goes out. Missed out opportunities are not hurtfull... but irritating to live with. U can feel like a fool in front of yourself sometimes lol.

I think they just don't know you but the fact that you're invited (and your friend mentioned you and they had no problem inviting you) means they wouldn't mind getting to know you. You're stressing about nothing C:

I'd feel a little awkward, but you guys would be getting to know each other. It sounds like they were trying to be nice. Go, have fun and try not to worry about it. They'll get to know you pretty soon and it won't be awkward.
