Should I go? - July 11th 2010, 08:28 PM

Ok well me and my dad just got in a fight.

I have a church camp coming up in 2 weeks. I'd have to pay for it, its $150 to go. My dad wants me to stay and look for a job and not waste my money.

I've aleardy applied everywhere thats taking applications. Theres nothing else for me to do except wait around. I dont think I would be wasting my money either. Church camp is a big deal for me. I've been going to the same camp for 5 years and I can only go this year and then next and then im off to college.

I can either not go or get my mom involved which is going to cause them to get into an arugument as well.

What do you guys think? Go or stay home?

It's your money, so I think you should spend it however you'd like. =) If your father decides to "pull rank" as a parent and forbids you to go, then that's another issue entirely... but right now, it seems like he just wants you to keep looking for work during those two weeks. So long as going to church camp doesn't interfere with opportunities to be interviewed (some places get back to you in a few days, others in a few weeks), I don't think you should ditch camp in favor of sitting around the house and waiting for phone calls. =P What you could do is try to follow-up with the places you applied to, by making some calls while you're at camp. Perhaps you could schedule some interviews by the time you return... and that will show your father that you're continuing to be pro-active, even while at camp. =D

I think you should go, as long as it's okay with your parents. If they don't want you to go, then there isn't to much you can do about it sense they are your parents.
Why don't you explain to your dad that church camp is a big deal for you and that you have applyed in every job opening you can find.
Also you could try waiting until they reply to you, if they reply just before you leave for the camp, ask the employer if you can schedule the interview for after camp.
I hope this helps.
Btw, I love your signature.

If he is just wanting you to stay at home to look for work, but you have applied everywhere and are not getting anything then I say still consider going.

One it is YOUR money so if you choose to "waste" it by going to church camp then that is your business.

Two if you feel that church camp is important and it is something you are led to do then you should go for it. After all, church camp is not just swimming, games ECT like many other camps.

I am a Christian too and so from one sister in Christ to another the biggest piece of advice is to PRAY for guidance from your Heavenly Father.

I'm not one for relgion maybe your fathers not eather but If it makes you happy then go for it.
Try to explain to him why you won't to go & next year you won't be able to go.
Just try your hardest man.
