Exclamation best friend....? - September 21st 2010, 05:38 PM

ok so i just started college and last night i was studying for a grammar test i had in english today. i asked my friend whom is a yr younger than me to help cause she is a lot smarter than i am. i have trouble distinguishing parts of speech and what type of word it is (verb noun adjective adverb) and i asked her to help me. she tried to help and then when i texted bak (wrong) what an example of each one (verb noun adverb adjective...) was she said "no wow" and then i replied "u think im stupid dnt u.) and she said "if u cnt figure that out then yea..." shes supposed to be my best friend but she made me feel like crap.
i understand that she is in her senior yr of highschool and has a lot of stress but she could have been a bit nicer to me. do u think its stress or her just getting annoyed with me and wanting to be mean?

I don't think she purposely tried to be mean to you. If you're concerned about it you could speak to her and tell her how what she said to you made you feel. I suppose she was only trying to help and it could have been a bit stressful. I know college is going to be hard but if you study then it's going to be a lot better.

Good luck with it.

Your friend may not have realized how much you're struggling, and your text message could have caught her by surprise (thus the "no wow" response). Maybe she doesn't know where to start, when it comes to "tutoring" you. If you are preparing for college, and you need this much help, then perhaps it would be a good idea to hire a professional/paid tutor who can spend time with you every day in order to help you develop the necessary grammatical skills. =)

I agree with PSY, she probably didn't understand how much you are struggling. She didn't need to comment like she did, it was rude of her, but I dont think she meant it. I think you should get help from a professional rather than from her.
