Question Hard secret to keep about best friend - December 30th 2010, 10:03 PM

My best friend is 15 and has told me she has tried a cigarette and she wants more to impress her male friend. I've told her she needs to stop but her dad used to smoke but quit and she thinks she'll be able to too. I'm younger than her so I don't think she really listens to me but what can I tell her??????
Thanks x

You could say a lot of things, but if she's dead-set on doing that, it probably is beyond your control. Tell her the stuff you know about it, what can happen, and tell her what you feel. If that doesn't stop it, I'm not sure there is much else you can do. I understand that she is your friend, and you might not want to tell her parent/s about this, but if you also at one point feel like you're obligated to, or you think it's the right thing for them to know. Maybe consider that as well. If she's doing this for A GUY maybe you should let her know, that whatever they may have will most-likely not last, and that she shouldn't get an addiction like that over some boy. But if she REALLY wants this, and she won't listen, I don't think there is much you can do besides tell her to not.

I will forgive, but I'll never forget.
