I dont have any true friends - February 13th 2011, 02:41 PM

lately, ive been soo busy with doing college applications and working that i havent really had the time to go out with my friends, and when i did i normally ended up falling asleep. what i really hate about all of this, is that practically all of my friends abandoned me. ive lost a good deal of the people i thought were actually friends because of it. like i threw my birthday party (which is actually the last one ill have with these people) last night, and only two people came (i invited 30), probably because i was all "no alcohol"(most of my "friends" are druggies) and "you have to get out of my house by 11 so i can work on my college apps and homework". only two people showed up. one of thems a middle schooler (im 18) and the other one, i think, is a legitimate friend.

the worst part is, at school, i hang out with the weird kids nobody else wants to even talk to. i wanna say theyre my friends, but honestly we barely get along and they try to be very manipulative (one of them forces me to lie about how much weed i smoke because she doesnt wanna hear about me smoking pot.) and then i hang out with most of my other friends for drugs. its really sad.

so what should i do? im pretty sure its too late now to make a new group of friends, but i guess im gonna try and hang out more with the chick who came to my party, and like three other friends who really had no way of getting here. but honestly, im so fed up with all this high school bullshit, and i cant wait to go away to college and never talk to most of these people like ever again.

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear about your birthday party. =( Something similar happened on my 18th, and it was hard to continue enjoying the festivities when so many "friends" flaked out. The good news is that you now have a better idea of who truly cares about you. Some friends are still making the effort, while others are not.

I'm also applying to colleges (graduate schools, actually), and it's really frustrating when you can't see your friends as often as you'd like! The only people who can truly relate are the friends who are also applying... and they're too busy to hang out with you!

Honestly, I think you've got the right idea regarding all of this. You only have a few months left, so keep focusing on your future goals and stop worrying about the people who don't matter! =D Spend time with the friend who managed to get to your party, and the friends who honestly tried to come. When you get to college, you'll find new friends.

I've been in your situation, however, I'm the flaker.
I'm not proud of it but after working 5 days a week without seeing my boyfriend, I always felt it was important to spend time with him on the weekends (my days off). I too lost a lot of friends because of the fact that I'd make plans, and then back out on them.
Similar things have happened to me as well, and I always feel terrible about it afterwards if nobody shows up to something I invited them too.
At least now, you know who your true friends are, and they will be there for you while the others are not. If you don't get along with the kids you hang out with at school, I suggest making new friends. They're doing things that you don't approve of, and while's it's completely up to them to make their own decisions, you don't have to be a part of that.
I wish you the best of luck.

I may wear the glass slippers; But my hero wears combat boots <3 I love you, Lieutenant

its good to make new friends but i think its not good to believe on them.
do your best with others but dont have any expectations from others..... because no one will help you when you need..
