having 2 try rly hard - May 10th 2011, 09:06 PM

just wanted 2 share some of the things that r bothering me and hoping 2 get some help. it seems i have 2 try 10x harder then anyone else 2 get respect from adults. its how they treat me and its how they talk 2 me. my parents 4 sure i dont get respect from but its not just them its strangers 2. my parents seem 2 have my life on a schedule from doing my homework when i can go outside and play how much i can play video games my bathtime and my bedtime. its really pissing me off.

some of the big issues are that my parents that we have a babysitter even though im 13 and i think i could watch my brothers. i am not joking either i have 2 listen 2 her because when there not here she is in charge. if i dont listen ill get in trouble and i have 2g2 bed at the same time as my younger brothers every time. then my parents will take her over me like if she says i was being bad i said i wasn't it wouldnt even be like i was talking they don't even listen 2 me.

its not jst that everyone talks 2 me like im a little kid cus i look like im 9 years old even though i rly am 13 but no one believes me. like when we go out the person like gives me a kids menu and im like im 13 i dont want this crap. its rly annoying. what exactly can i say to people to not think i am a whiny kid. i know i sound like 1 when i talk and i cant help that but i need ppl 2 take me seriously. i am trying so hard and i am trying 2 do everything that a grown up or older tenager does. plz help.

Tristen,

Hey there. I am sorry that you aren't being treated like your age. I think that's unfair. And in some cases, that stops a kid from being able to grow. In order for people to treat you like you're older, you have to ACT older. You have to do things that make you seem older than you're nine year old brother. Do you have an idol, or someone you look up to? Maybe you can study that person a bit and then see if can emulate them. I think that would help. Also, it might help to talk to your parents about how you're feeling. They might not even realize they are treating you like this because you're letting it go on. I would suggest that you talk to your parents. Tell them what you notice, and how you wish to be treated. Tell them that you want to be treated as though you are older. It might help you out a bit.
