I don't know if I should forgive him. - July 26th 2011, 06:18 AM

For two years this "friend" of mine and I have been fighting off and on. We have very different personalities but we used to be very close. We would walk around holding hands and everybody thought we were a couple but he had a boyfriend and I was coming to terms with my own sexuality. Every Tuesday we would hang out and his grandparents would take me out to dinner with their family. We texted 24/7 and he was the only friend to drive out to camp to visit me and I went with him to support him when he went to get his permit (and again the second time).

However, we fought every once in a while because his boyfriend doesn't like me. He has cursed me out several times and told his boyfriend he is using me for information so that he can spread my secrets and tell everybody how dramatic and foolish I am. We stopped communicating for the last semester of High School. I finally didn't have any classes with him, wasn't in any productions with him, and didn't share the same circle of friends at all so we grew apart.

We have patched some things up but he is begging for my friendship again. I don't know what to do. I am the girl who forgives everybody and everybody walks all over me. It's ridiculous how much people get away with and I forgive them. I don't know what to do with this situation though. I really need help. I do miss his friendship and I do miss hanging out with him but sometimes I feel as if I am going in a better direction without him. I don't know what to do. I'm very confused. I talked to my girlfriend about all of it and she doesn't want me to forgive him only because she resents anybody who hurts me (which I can understand) but I don't know if that helps me in this situation.

I'm sorry it's so long.. please help me.

You can always start hanging out with him again, then cut him out of your life if he's more trouble than he's worth. Ultimately, it's up to you. I've renewed friendships with some people, and haven't with others. It really depends on the situation and how willing you are to see whether or not things work out. =) Good luck!
