My worst best friend... - September 1st 2011, 06:17 PM

I've always thought that my best friend was totally selfish and has to have to spotlight on her, but I ignored it. We have to most amazing times together...when it's JUST US...
She's been going to drastic lenghts to get all the attention and it's just not funny.
Right now, whenever she eats, she'll throw it back up again - purposly. She wants people to feel sorry for her and to get ATTENTION. I warned her that she's going to get ill, but she won't listen.
I can't leave her, but how do I get through to her?

Well, I have to say, if she's doing it for attention then the best way to handle this would be to take a step away from her. I'm not telling you to abandon her or anything, but pull yourself back, and if she gets upset simply tell her that you can't be around something like that. Hopefully, if it doesn't get her the attention she wants, she'll stop.

tell someone she is doing that it may cause more attention but if she wont stop its endageing her life then let someone take a hold of it

Life is too

Short to spend

It at war with

Yourself.

Iím catching stars in the sky because I am fixing the soul within me. May it be from the heart a girl broke years ago or my soul simply repairing itself as it was shattered on my walk on this earth. May the stardust fill those cracks within my soul making me brand new, but never forgetting who I once was.

I've actually dealt with a similar situation in the past. This may not be the *best* approach, but it worked in my case. When the person I knew started throwing up "for attention", I treated the situation as if it were serious. Basically, I went to a school counselor and said that the person I knew was throwing up after every meal. Of course, the school counselor assumed that the person I knew was suffering from an eating disorder (bulimia nervosa), so the person was dragged into the office, her parents were called, etc. She was so embarrassed about the unwanted attention that she laid low for months... no more attention-seeking behavior from her. And if she really IS suffering from an eating disorder, you can feel better knowing that you helped a friend in need. =)
