Exclamation So agravated - March 18th 2009, 07:26 PM

Hi, so here's the background information... In our school we go by the gold card system. The gold card allows you to participate in events such as fieldtrips, community meetings and stuff like that. Well, if you get written up, then you lose your gold card.

My brother and I had our preformance all ready for the audition for the school talent show, but then he went and got writen up, so we can't paricipate. For the past couple months he has been getting written up almost every day. He just won't turn in his home work, or he'll back talk to teachers. Well, the teacher running it decided to give us another shot, and let us MC the talent show (annoucing). He lost his card agan today. And when our mother gets home later, she has to take him down to the police station. He and one of his other friends got bored at school today, so durring break they decided to go beat up another kid in their grade. Please note; this kid did nothing to them, they were just bored. My brother just doesn't get the severity of this situation (he's 12, but has the maturity level of a 5 year old), and finds it amusing. He's going through a "punk" stage, where he thinks it's cool to be a jerk to every one. (Ex: this morning he locked me out of the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth, because I told him he couldn't use my hair straightener because he walked in and just started peeing... Again... While I was in there.) I'm so fed up with him and his crap. And I'm sick of getting my hopes up, then having him not even care when he crushes them. Any advice?

From what I've heard, siblings exist to annoy you. Could you not do this audition with somebody else? I know you can't separate yourself from him at home but you certainly can from schoool.

Just remember that you have your own homework and grades to think about. I understand that your brother's lack of effort can annoy you, but don't let it affect your own.

It may be just a phase ... hopefully he'll soon get back to normal.

Nah, the audition has already passed. I couldn't have done it with someone else anyways, because we changed the notes around for the song a little.

I'm doing fine in my school work. I've been hiding out in my room for the past month or so. So my grades aren't lacking. Plus my English teacher knows about this, and has helped me earalier this year with a serious issue I was having, so she would understand if they were. (She's like a seond mother to me.) But I've made sure to keep my grades up.

It just sucks becuse he has music earlier this year. So now I have it, and the teacher asked me my name and when I gave it to her she's just like "You're Anthony's sister..." And she's been being mean to me because of all the crap she got from my brother. Isn't it supposed to be that the younger sibling s refered to as the older sibling's brother? Not the other way around?

So, after a couple of visits from the police...

My parents have to take my brother to be arrested before the end of next week. He has to get finger printed, and will get a permanant file. Then, they have to go to Juvenile Court, to claim him and he will have community service. I'm really scared for him.

Hi Jessica,

You really shouldn't worry about your brother right now. He may have gotten arrested for beating up that kid and is getting fingerprinted, but hopefully he will learn from this. Community service is not a bad thing. Hopefully he will learn the values of helping people. If not, then I hope your parents give him a good talking to.

As for how he acts in school, I think you should make it absolutely clear that you are your own person and not your brother's sister. That teacher may be acting mean towards you, but still try to be civil with her. I'm sure she'll realize that you don't act like your brother soon enough.

I'm sorry that the audition didn't go well. It's really disappointing getting your hopes dropped like that. Maybe next time you could try auditioning with a friend instead? They may care more about it.

Nat.
