Flat 'mates' rent - March 19th 2009, 08:07 PM

Ahh i am such a weak individual who is too nice!!! I get on with everyone just because i dont speak the truth and avoid confruntation.

My flat mate has been consitently late with rent so managed to give her the untimatium last month of pay on time or 2 weeks to move out. this month she leaves a note saying she'll move out in 2 weeks but theres no money and she owes money for bills to its totalling almost 600 but how can i expect her to aford a deposit and the 1st months rent on another place if im taking that from her (although dout she'll give it to me).

Its her birthday today too and i know any money she gets goes to her husband to be on his medical bills.

Got my going on at me about the money to plus shes leaving me short.

(sorry this turned into a bit of a rant)

I'm a bit of a weak individual too so i totally understand where you're coming from.
I think you should talk to your flat mate again; not in a demanding-where's-my-money-you-owe-me sort of way - but in a sympathetic way saying you understand that her financial situation is tough right now but you need her share of the rent to be paid. Perhaps you two can come to some sort of agreement where she pays you a certain amount a week until all her debts are paid off?

good luck! x

& it's just like she's in another world.
