Guy in class said he wants to punch me!? - December 1st 2011, 07:53 AM

Wtf!? I'm a girl we're in University. I dont know him so well, interacted with hi in group of friends in a new univ. I dont believe we've had any issues. He didnt say it in anger but in a cool way like 'I dont know why when I see you I want to punch you', I was like 'what the hell?' in a cool way. But I'm seriously thinking what the hell. He said it once before too. I dont get it, is it an idiotic attempt to joking. You think its idiotic enough for me to confront him about it? I will say something cleverer next time.

Hmm... that's a tough one. I've known a lot of people who have said things like that in the past. It's always been a lame attempt at joking. Still, better safe than sorry. If you don't know him very well, then you can't know if it's just joking, or if he's truly psychotic and capable of going over the edge one of these days. The next time you see him, I'd confront him. Ask him why he keeps saying he wants to punch you. If he shrugs, says "I don't know", or gives an otherwise "weak" answer, then my guess is he's horrible at making jokes. If he comes up with a "legitimate" reason ("Because I don't like you"), then I'd start avoiding him as much as possible.

I have actually heard that often believe it or not. Sometimes that is a way to impress others around him. Think back to when he said it, was he around anyone who was a huge part of his life? Was it just you and him? If he was in a group and he has someone that was a big part of his life (bestfriend or girlfriend, or a crush) then he only said it to get attention, and to joke (in his own little way). Which in all honesty he proabably got someone to smile or laugh - which I think is what he was aiming for.
