my temper... - January 2nd 2012, 08:39 PM

Not really sure if this is in the right section but anyways..
so i hav a really bad temper, especially around my family. pretty much anywhere else ive been able to control it to a degree, but i always get in big trouble with my parents because itll start off with a small thing and then escalate. It doesn't help that both my parents hav bad tempers too and get mad easily like me, so i cant really go to them. I've really tried to manage it but there are a lot of times when i dont kno what else to do. any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: my temper... - January 3rd 2012, 02:49 AM

I have been in similar situations where I have been so mad and angry that I cant control my anger. What helps me is you can always take a timeout: counting to 10 isn't just for kids and alot of times this will help. Once you are calm, express your anger - and think before you speak. After you express your anger - identify the possible solutions that can resolve this issue. Once this is all done - and the situation is calmer, don't hold a grudge and maybe using humor to lessen the tension may help.

I would also recommend looking up online some relaxation skills that you can practice.

If your temper and anger is running your life - then its time to seek help from a trained professional. I know it may sound stupid, but they will be able to help you way more than you can even believe. So if it gets to that point - its time to seek and get help.

I hope this helped alittle.

Best wishes,
Chris
