Hey Dave,
I think that from what your friend said, there's not much hope for it working out. She seems pretty definite in her answer. I think it was good that you tried talking with her again and tried to convince her that it could work, but I don't think there's any more that you can do. I'm really sorry it worked out this way. I think effort to keep a friendship going needs to come from both sides, and it sounds like she's not willing to put in that effort anymore, even if you are. It's not fair that she gave up, but maybe it will be better to find another friend who will stick by you in the long run. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.
