I feel like a horrible friend - March 23rd 2012, 10:45 AM

So I'm back for a bit again. It's 5:45 in the morning. I can't sleep because I just got into a big fight with my best friend.

So we went to the Hunger Games midnight release, but afterwards her aunt asked me and her to drive her home from the bar. Well, her aunt left with someone else and it was me and her and two other people in the bar. She got totally drunk and started hitting on this guy (like making out with this guy) and I had to pretty much drag her away from him since she has a boyfriend. Once we left she sent me on a wild goose chase to find her aunt when it's horribly foggy and I could barely see the road. We didn't get to my home until 4:30 in the morning, then she wanted to get more drunk, bother my brother, then go home because she said she wasn't drunk. I then proceeded to yell at her saying, "Yes, you are drunk, you couldn't even take off your flip flops without falling over and you are fricken crawling on my floor!! Now get on the couch and go to sleep!!" I felt absolutely horrible, I know it was the right thing to do but I feel awful. She was crying saying she was a terrible friend for putting me through this. I haven't even sad I was sorry.

I know I did the right thing I just can't help feeling horrible.

I love you both unconditionally

Let go of the fear Let go of the doubt
Let go of the ones who try to put you down
You're gonna be fine Don't hold it inside
If you hurt right now, then let it all come out

Of course you feel horrible, and she feels the same way - but understand that alcohol was involved. Your best bet is to just wait alittle bit, and give her a call and tell her that you are sorry you yelled at her last night - but you just wanted to get her to go to bed. Chances are there will be no problems between you guys and everything will be fine.

You did the right thing, don't feel so bad!

Best wishes,

I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...

I agree with Chris - and honestly, this doesn't seem like a huge fight to me. She was drunk, you yelled at her, she cried, and that's it. This can easily be remedied by telling your friend why you didn't want her to go home, apologizing for yelling, and explaining that you don't think she's a terrible friend because she got drunk. If you want to avoid similar situations in the future, just be very clear about your expectations and what you'll do if she ends up this drunk again (ex. removing her from bars/clubs and taking her home). This will allow you to stand your ground in the future, while also allowing your friend to forgive herself and better understand where you were coming from last night.
