Easy healthy recipes - April 25th 2014, 11:21 AM

I'm useless at cooking. I've been eating a lot healthier lately and all I can really make is salads, jacket potatoes and pasta :') I want to start cooking more but I'm hopeless. What should I try to make to start with? Preferably something which won't burn/fcuk up easily

I went to google and typed in "easy healthy recipes" and came up with a lot of various meals to make that seem easy and are healthy. Some do require cooking though lol but you should be fine with making them.

If you get wholegrain pasta instead of the regular kind then that makes it healthier. Rice is also not too bad if you get brown rice instead of white and you can substitute pasta or rice for cous cous as well. Also, you can use courgette to make pasta ribbons and cauliflower to make rice, there's lots of recipes for doing this on Google. It's an easy way to get more vegetables into your diet.

I usually eat the same sort of things every week just since I buy all my food frozen so it lasts for months but tuna is probably the most healthiest meal I eat

Tuna steak with mushroom sauce
lots of Green Red and black Peppercorns
2 Large Tuna Steaks
2 oz butter
200g sliced mushrooms
1 cup of milk (use semi-skimmed rather than whole if you want it healthier)
1 tablespoon of flour

Coarsely crush the pepperorns.
Pat the peppercorns into the tuna steaks
add a little olive oil in a pan, add the steaks and cook over a medium low heat for 4 minutes, Turn the steak and cook for a further 4 minutes. (the tuna steak should be slightly pink inside still.) Remove the Tuna steaks form the pan, keep warm.
in the pan add the butter, once melted add the mushrooms once cooked, push the mushrooms to one side and tip the pan so the butter is on one side add the flour and mix to a paste and some whole peppercorns and add a dash of milk, gradually making the paste thinner into a sauce. Mix in the mushrooms, simmer for 2 mins, should give a nice peppery mushroom flavour.pour over the tuna steaks. and serve. I serve with new potatoes

One of my favorite healthy dishes to eat is fruit salads and smoothies. For fruit salads, you don't always have to put lettuce in. My mom makes this delicious one with plain yogurt and lots of fruit in it..kinda like a custard. You could also try eating fish such as salmon with rice or any other types of meat too. For recipes, I would recommend Google and Pinterest. Hope this helps.
