Gingerbread Nativity - December 23rd 2015, 04:58 PM

I've been planning this for weeks, and honestly I'm a teeny tiny bit disappointed. I had hoped it'd look a lot better.
But here are my photos!

The start of my stable - the icing took SO LONG to dry. I had to leave it overnight before I could put the roof on. Also one of the walls broke in half so I had to glue that together too.
Spoiler:

My wee people! I drew them onto paper and then cut around them. They're made out of shortbread.
Spoiler:

Icing sugar and black jeans. I never learn.
Spoiler:

Started icing my people:
Spoiler:

I started getting a bit desperate with the icing drying:
Spoiler:

The stable was a mess so I decided to cover it in dark chocolate so it looked more like wood and less like... well, the rubbish it was:
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Faces added:
Spoiler:

There were a couple of casualties:
Spoiler:

But I finally finished it!
Spoiler:

Throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year would see me right

I think it looks great, Louise! I look forward to your baking every single holiday you bake on. Keep on baking, my little llama baker.

As soon as I saw the title I was like "If this isn't Louise I'm going to be disappointed" but lo and behold, it was you. This is awesome, as usual. Incidentally, have you considered writing some recipes for Articles? You could do step-by-step guides, complete with pictures, so other people can follow in the footsteps of your greatness.

I always love seeing what you make! It looks awesome and I was like "" when I saw the dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is the best.

When I look into the eyes of an animal
I do not see an animal
I see a living being
I see a friend
I feel a soul.

They whispered to her

she whispered back
i am the storm.

This looks so awesome It looks like getting the walls and everything together must have been a challenge, but it turned out looking great! The people turned out so cute, too. Thanks for sharing. This definitely got me in the Christmas spirit today.

The cookie casualties were amusing I must admit. I can't believe how great this looks. How dare you say it looks rubbish. SEND ME THE COOKIES.

This must have taken awhile. I remember you telling me your plans for the idea, and so, I was happy to see you post a thread showing us your work. I think it looks really great. I always look forward to seeing what you baked whenever I see a thread posted by you in this forum. You're so creative! Thanks for sharing with us.
