Oreo cookie turkeys. - November 22nd 2017, 01:19 PM

I know this is late but I want to show this to you guys anyway because they usually come out super cute. I'm going to make these later today so I can come back and post some pictures. Here is a link that has additional pictures and instructions as this craft is not my own.

These are oreo cookie turkeys.

You need

Oreos
Peanut butter cups
Candy corn
Frosting
Malted milk balls

1. Open an Oreo and put a second (full Oreo) on top of the icing from the first.
2. Use frosting to 'glue' the peanut butter cup to the front of the standing Oreo. Do the same for the malted milk ball.
3. Use candy corn and stick it pointy side down, between the cookies of the standing Oreo to make the feathers.
4. Use frosting to make eyes and a nose with a piece of candy corn (optional). You can also make feet if you choose.
5. Eat them or use them as a centerpiece.

When I look into the eyes of an animal
I do not see an animal
I see a living being
I see a friend
I feel a soul.

They whispered to her
you cannot withstand the storm
she whispered back
i am the storm.

My mind first interpreted this as Oreo flavored turkey and not a sweet snack that looked like a turkey. They're adorable and sound freaking delicious now, though! I can't wait to see pictures.

Those are so cute! Maybe I'll have to try them sometime even if not for Thanksgiving.

So, I have a random question, do you think there is something else that could be used in place of the peanut butter cups? I have a niece that has a peanut allergy.

I believe most of the products mentioned are nut free except of course the Peanut butter cups.

No big deal if there isn't an alternative but this could be something I could try and make tomorrow or maybe for Christmas

It looks like the peanut butter is being used as a kind of glue. I'm thinking a nut free alternative would be honey.
Buy it might be super sweet having honey mixed with all the other sweet ingredients. Maybe then....some kind of icing or marshmallow fluff which are also super sweet

Edit: I didn't realize they're peanut butter cups and not plain peanut butter and if is used as a stand. Perhaps a kind of a nut free chocolate with a similar size and shape.

You might be able to use marshmallow cups or gum drops for your niece since they're about the same size. Or even butterscotch.

I did several standing up and then I did a few flat ones because I wasn't super patient.
