Simple Breakfast Recommendations? -
July 5th 2019, 08:24 PM
Hey, everyone
I'm having a hard time wanting to eat breakfast lately because I always resort the same traditional breakfast foods (toast/bagels, cereal, muffins, eggs) and I'm really sick of them. Sausage and bacon are okay, but can be time consuming, and I get sick of it after a while. It doesn't help that I don't care much for other typical breakfast foods like pancakes/waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, grits, etc. I do not have a lot of time to cook in the morning during the week, but I can meal-prep on the weekend. I also tend to eat breakfast early, so lighter meals are preferred.
So if anyone has any breakfast recommendations that somewhat fit this, I'd love to hear them!

I've been wanting to reply to this for a while now but I haven't been able to.
Do you like rice cakes? I've found them to be a simple and easy option. I really don't like to eat early in the morning and they're more doable for me. You could get a plain one and spread peanut butter or Nutella on it. You can also get chocolate ones or any other flavor you like. They tend to be filling for a while too.
What about fruit cups? Those could be something to try as well. I have the regular ones but there's a company that makes the fruit cups with a little bit of oats in them and they aren't too bad. You could also do fruit in general, like peaches and stuff like that. Since you can prep on the weekends, you could make a fruit salad or something and divide it to eat throughout the week.
Do you like to put anything in your eggs? I can't eat eggs on their own so I'll put stuff in them, like onions, peppers, tomatoes. It keeps it more interesting.
There's a lot of different toppings you can do to mix things up with bagels and English muffins. When I started losing weight I didn't want to give up waffles, so I got 'healthier' ones and topped them with a little bit of honey instead of syrup.
I don't know if this is something you'd be interested in but Hamilton Beach makes a breakfast sandwich maker and you can do a whole lot more with breakfast in it. A lot of people like it because it can preheat/cook their sandwich while they're getting ready to leave. If you don't want to buy it new, a lot of thrift stores have them new in the box.
I don't blame you for not liking yogurt! I can't eat it either. I hope you find some foods to help change your routine.

I appreciate the replies. I would like to clarify that I am looking for meal ideas and/or recipes, rather than diet suggestions. I'm just bored of traditional breakfast foods.
I totally forgot rice cakes exist And I'd love to incorporate more ideas with fruit, but I can't have seeds, so I'll have to find ideas that don't use berries

I didn’t intend to suggest food for dieting, I was just sharing a bit about myself. A lot of foods that people use to “diet” or change their lifestyle or whatever it may be taste really good. You can eat a lot of those foods without “dieting.”
Just thought of something else: do you like pesto? You can put it on eggs. It sounds gross but it’s not too bad.
For fruit you could try peaches, nectarines, plums, or apples.

If you want to be eating, whether that's eating healthier or just eating at all, the trick is to find something you like. For me, it's oatmeal with a tsp of cinnamon brown sugar and milk. For some reason I can eat this every day for years. I get bored of most foods easily too, can't explain why this one thing always stuck for me.
For a while I was really into almond butter on toast. I don't like peanut butter, but the almond was just soooo goooood to me. It's cheapest at Costco. There are a ton of other nut butters you can try. I have something call Sun Butter which I've been meaning to try. I also went through an avocado toast phase. Those are good to try. Some people are really into the overnight oats recipes - there are dozens of different versions of those. Maybe try yogurts with granola or other stuff? My Dad used to make this wonderful home made granola... Don't have his recipe unfortunately. I don't know if any of those suggestions will help you, but it's okay to jump around just follow your cravings. :-)
You could try Asian breakfasts like rice and fish and such. Or like pre-prepared Ramen style eggs. They are super duper easy to make if you can get the boil technique down for whatever texture you like.

Sun butter is really good, Pascha. You should give it a try! I heard a lot of people who have peanut allergies substitute with sun butter. I am not allergic to peanuts but I love it all the same. It tastes similar to peanut butter but slightly different though I don't know how to explain it. I like the "chunky" version of it best.

You probably already know this one but when I feel like eggs, I make them scrabbled with cheese and ham/bacon pieces in them and salt and pepper and it's great! So easy to make and so simple.
