Vegans Unite! And help me... - January 21st 2011, 06:56 PM

I am a vegetarian, and have been for over a month. I plan on switching to veganism by April and to make it a slow process, as I am fearful of the effect of radically changing my diet would have on my body.

If anyone is curious, I was convinced by Pete Singer's essay "Unsanctification of the Human Life". I used demonoid to get it, it's a quick read <200 pages, so I'll upload it if people are interested.

But I need some advice. Chobani yogurt and milk (with whey protein powder) is a serious part of my diet and essential for

So:
1. If you are vegan/vegetarian, come in and say hi
2. If you can answer my questions, great
3. Come and talk/debate about the ethics of eating animals

Hi. I'm vegan

To be honest, I don't think switching to veganism will have a massive effect on your body. So long as you keep a balanced diet, which is very easy to do, what will probably happen is that you will start feeling healthier. That said, I can't tell you from experience as I've been vegan for so long.

I've heard of Peter Singer's essay, but have yet to get around to reading it. Though I hear it is good.

As for you question about the yoghurt, I don't quite understand If you're looking to replace the yoghurt and milk though, there are a growing amount of vegan alternatives.

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian, so I don't exactly know that much about being a vegan. When I became a vegetarian it was really easy to adapt to it and there weren't any problems with my body.
