Unhealthy eating. - February 14th 2011, 05:39 PM

Hello

My eating habits are so bad and having anxiety and depression makes it worse, I eat when i'm down and that's mostly i also eat when i'm bored so i emotional eat alot, I'm also really fussy and i don't eat much healthy foods.
How can I change this though? because i'd like to also lose weight and my eating habits don't help, i've tried mags/reading stuff online and that doesn't change things

Hey,

I think I've definitely been an emotional eater in the past, too. It's a hard thing to overcome.

First of all, you have to find different ways to deal with emotions. I suggest going and talking with a therapist about it. They can help you deal with the depression and anxiety and also help you find better ways to work through your feelings.

Work on replacing unhealthy foods with something better for you. I found that when I cook/bake my own foods I can modify recipes to make them better for me and it's often sooo much healthier than had I bought it pre-packaged.

You can still eat a lot of delicious foods, but make them better for you. An example is that you can replace butter with reduced fat applesauce in tons of baked goods. Or replace eggs with non-fat sour cream. There are tons of ways to cut calories from foods you like and still be able to enjoy them. There's a lot of tricks if you just google it online.

I hope this helps and if you ever want to talk you can PM me.
