Ravioli - March 30th 2011, 07:15 PM

I just made my own spinach and ricotta ravioli! even the pasta! And it was lovely so I thought I'd share my success. Has anyone else ever made their own pasta? how did it go? I want some fun ideas of what I can do with the rest of the dough.

It's actually pretty easy - just 100g plain flour and an egg to make the dough, then you just roll it out as thin as you can and then make it into lovely little packages of joy haha!

Wowza, that does sound easy. What kind of flour? All purpose?

I just used plain flour, but some recipes say to use 00 flour. A lot of people say it doesn't make a difference though. I couldn't taste the difference. You just roll it out so it's thin enough to see your hand behind it and then put 1/4 teaspoons of filling on, brush the edges with water and press the edges down. You only need to cook it for a couple of minutes.

I might make this today

I have plain flour and an egg! I don't know what to put in the packages of yummyness though. Ideas anyone?

Wowza, that sounds really simple. I can't wait to try it, and plus I've heard that home made pasta is to die for.
I'm happy that you can use pretty much any flour, I'm into baking so we have a ton of all purpose flour in our freezer.

I love raviloi, infact I just love pasta in general! I've never made my own pasta but quite a few people in my Food Technology class made it back when I was taking my GCSE in Food Technology. It looked pretty tricky as they had to put it through this pasta machine thing which involved having to turn this handle around and stuff. I bet your own fresh pasta is amazing though and really rewarding!

You don't need a pasta machine, you can roll it out with a rolling pin. It takes longer, but it works fine.

I don't think I have ever had it.

I don't care for Ravioli much.
Sorry to be a kill joy

For a little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head say, no oh oh
