Rainbow Cake! -

So a while ago I made a rainbow layer cake and this is what I WANTED it to look like:
 And this is what it DID look like:  I wanna try again and make one that looks better, or I might try doing the swirls like this:  Have any of you guys made a rainbow cake? Yours looks way better!
The swirl ones are pretty cool. Good luck! Make sure the cake cools before you frost, when I make cupcakes I put them in the fridge for a bit before frosting. I've made one before I wanted it to look like this...
 and it ended up looking like this..  I wanted the frosting too look perfect but it's just too hard. I came to the conclusion that if you want the frosting to llok perfect buy this..  you can't go wron with that.

Good job! It may look a little messy but it looks delicious too! Om nom nom.
First of all, you have to trim the top of the cake off for even layers, including the top layer. Make sure you dust off the crumbs so any loose crumbs don't get mixed in with the icing. Then, you need an icing spatula (which probably has a technical name). Since it's a huge cake, you'll need a pretty long one (that's what she said!). Try making the icing so you can control the consistency of it and make it a bit lighter than the thick store-bought kind. It spreads easier! Finally, you have to apply even pressure as you're spreading. Start with the sides and apply a generous amount first, then evenly spread it. After you get a base layer, you can apply a second layer of icing that you can prettify it a little more. With practice, your icing technique will get better! Start with a smaller cake to practice and work your way up. :P “Don't get too comfortable with who you are at any given time. Wow. That looks so delicious! You did a great job on it! the most complicated I've made is a checker board cake. It ended up looking pretty bad, but it tasted good!
