Re: Fish oil or krill oil -

Hi,
There's a whole lot of debate on this, like all the time! ![]() I honestly think that people generally would prefer fish oil to krill oil. But either way, here's how I look at it: What we can look at first, is how much DHA we're getting from them both yeah? And at what cost. DHA tends to be something we need like the most of, considering our brain is made up of approximately 60% fat of which DHA is the most prevelant. And DHA and EPA in your diet is very beneficial, helping in maintaining cholesterol and weight. So basically, when you look at Omega-3 supplements, which is essentially what fish/krill oil are, you are buying DHAs. What we have to look at here, is the amount of DHA per capsule and compare it to price. The krill oil softgels are more expensive, almost 5 times as much as how much fish oil caspules cost. Also, the most important part, is that krill oil, is very low in DHA, which is the most important of the omega 3 fats. We should also make sure the we buy decontaminted oil capsules. The fish oil is indeed contaminated and has to go through a long decontamination. Krill oil is said to be not contaminated at all, but they do not go through any decontamination process - that doesn't necessarily mean that it's not contaminted, is my point. Krill oil, is very high in an antioxidant Astaxanthin, which fish oil doesn't have. Although, high quality fish oil has it too. It's said that the potency of the astaxanthin, however is lower as compared to the fish oil. However, what ultimately this seems to be, is very good marketing when it comes to Krill oil. There is no scientific information that suggests that krill oil is more beneficial or any such when compared to Krill oil, so in all honesty, it would be a safer bet to go with fish oil. It's cheaper, safer (considering we can't be sure if krill oil is contaminated or not) and better for out health, it looks like. ~Through the wind and the rain She stands hard as a stone In a world that she can't rise above But her dreams give her wings And she flies to a place where she's loved. Concrete Angel. If you ever need to talk, I'm here for you! My PM box is always open! (: Make no mistake, every prayer you pray gets answered. Even though, sometimes, the answer, is no. . . ![]() HelpLINK Mentor - 2.4.2011 LiveHelp Operator - 18.6.2011 |
