You can pretty much have whatever you want except for dried fruit because it's sticky. The only reason they tell you not to eat apples is because you shouldn't bite into a whole one, but you can cut one up and eat it. I ate pretty much whatever I wanted with mine, even popcorn which you aren't supposed to do.
