Which Types of Food Help You Grow? -
January 18th 2012, 09:08 AM
Hello there, first of all, I didn't put this in the food section because I didn't feel it really belonged there (my focus is on something else).
So yea, I'm nearing the end of my growth (18 and apparently you stop growing at 21 - ish?), and I want to maximize any remaining height I have left. I've always been confused as to exactly which foods help you grow (height). I know it's ultimately up to your genetics, but I'm sure there's certain types which maximize your potential. I know milk helps your bones get stronger, and helps you with your calcium intake, but it doesn't necessarily help with your height and that's what I'm looking for... So which types of food would help me grow? Thanks for any input!

I agree with what Amber said
. Also I wanted to say that I am 20 and I haven't grown at all since I was 15. I was pretty sure most people stop growing before 21 but I could be wrong and maybe it is different for guys idk .

Amber: thanks haha, but I was wondering if you could mention types of food (veggies for example) since I don't really know which foods contain what xD.
Stacy: Yeah I thought I was done too but my fitness coach and councillor told me a few days ago the last age for growing normally for boys lands at around 21 (give or take a few years) so I've been trying to take advantage of these 3 extra years :P. Carpe Diem: Seize the Day/Moment.

I've heard that foods high in vitamin A can help you grow. So carrots, broccoli, spinach and apricots. There are more, probably. Also, kids are supposed to eat whole grains when eating breads and stuff because that helps them get more nutrients to grow, so you could try that. Foods like whole wheat bread, brown rice and whole-grain pasta. Obviously protein-rich foods are essential for growth, so meat, poultry, seafood, nuts and seeds. And then dairy, so milk, yogurt and cheese.

Everything leans on the skeletal system for support... so just going by logic, it makes sense in my opinion to look to that first.
In other words no.1 should be calcium. No.2 protein. Plus I suggest taking vitamin tablets to maximise growth potential. I'm still hoping in the 1 month I've got left till I turn 21 I might get that long sought after growth spurt, lol. I'm not "short", but certainly below average. If you've got some spare time, read this:
http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f40-s...-d/#post631229 But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead. ![]() |
