Everything Lead Up to His Death... - April 19th 2009, 06:17 PM

Alright, I didn't personally know the guy, but my sister and a lot of close friends of mine did.

I don't know how old he is. He's under 23 though.

For some reason he snapped one day and held a knife to his throat, saying he was going to kill himself. His family talked him down and he dropped the knife and took off running. He ran to some place, where he then slit his wrists. Someone found him and as they were trying to help him, he ran into the street where a car hit him a 50mph.

He was in a coma in a hospital and some time yesterday he passed away. He has one kid who is about 2. And all my friends are terribly upset. Nobody is sure why he snapped... =[

RIP Matt.

Hey,

It's hard to know why anyone would do anything like that. It is hard to find closure without knowing any of the answers to the unanswered questions. However, that doesn't mean it is impossible. It just takes accepting the fact that there are somethings you will never understand and some questions that will always linger. In a situation like this it is easy to get angry and with that anger comes misplaced blame and pain. It is normal to feel the loss of someone even if you didn't know them well. Losing anyone forces you to face your own immorality and the immortality of those around you which can be frightening. Try to be there as best you can for your sister and your friends. Just letting them know that you care and are willing to listen if they need to talk can do wonders. After losing someone special it is common to feel extremely lonely and even isolated. Do your best to ease those feelings for the people around you. As long as you try to be there for them that is what counts. As much as you'd like to take all the suffering away that just isn't possible. Take care and hang in there. I am here for you if you need me.

Lots of love <3 Mimi

That really is terribly upsetting, and I don't even know who this guy was.

It's always very upsetting to hear that somebody was sad and troubled enough to take their own life, and especially so if you knew who that person was.

As your sister and friends were closer to him, you should try to be there for them, as a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. It might help you to talk about your feelings to someone, too. And don't forget we will always be here to listen, as well.

My thoughts go to his family and close friends, and I hope that he is now at peace.

He was 25 I guess, my bad. But his funeral was yesterday. Just felt like saying:

RIP Matt. You are missed dearly. I wish you knew how much you meant to everyone, and your son. <3 Watch over him.
