You learn at a certain pace. Then that pace goes away. Then

you try and try to do everything you can. Then it gets harder.

Then you give up. Then its all over.

Don't beat yourself up over it. It's not your fault he chose this. I don't think he'd want you to blame yourself. Since he's your best friend, I think he'd want you to be happy, not sad. Don't forget him, but look back on those times and smile.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. You can't take blame for something you had no control over. In fact, I bet if you weren't in his life he might have even taken if life way earlier. I have had two friends commit suicide, and I use to blame myself too. But than I blamed myself so much that I started to have problems with depression, my physical/mental health decreased, and my life was going down. I know that my two friends who killed themselves would not want me to feel the way they felt: the pain, and the hurt. So I got myself some help: I signed up for a counselor (specialty in grieving), and I was able to get over (not necessarily accept the deaths: but get over/move on from) the deaths of my two friends. Sure, I still think about them, but them passing away doesn't affect all aspects of my life, I am able to function normally, and live a healthy life.

Stay strong, and seek help if you feel it be best (which at this point I highly recommend it to you).

Best wishes,
Chris

I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...
