I don't have the right to be sad. - October 22nd 2013, 01:17 PM

I found out today that someone that went to my elementary and middle school was killed. He was in my elementary school classes for a while and he was always nice to me, but then he stayed back a year, and after that we mostly lost touch. I remember his mom and sister, too, and my sister remembers him.

But I hadn't seen him in years. There are people in my school that were crying or really upset, and THEY'RE the ones who knew him well and were his actual friends. After not seeing him for so long, I didn't even know what he looked like, I had his child face stuck in my head.

I do feel sad about it. Not crying sad or anything, but I do feel the heaviness. I feel as if I don't have a right to be sad about it, though, because I hadn't seen him in so long, barely ever thought about him, but now it hit me.

It's okay to be sad, you did once know him.
When Amber was killed, the whole town was upset about it, knowing her or not. And it is okay!
Be sad, it's alright.
If you need to talk, I'll be here!

We've already sorta went over this a few minutes before I'm posting here but felt it was best to put my 2 cents here as well. Even though you didn't know him "that well" you still did know him so its perfectly ok and understandable to feel a little sad over it. As always you know where I am if you ever need to talk about this or anything else!

Hi Dez, I'm sorry to hear about the loss. You have the right to be sad if you feel it necessary. I've been in your position where someone passes away and I haven't seen them in forever, so I'm not really crying hysterically, but I am still alittle upset (which is understandable). The feelings (or lack thereof) you are experiencing in this situation is perfectly normal.

If you ever need to talk, or vent, feel free to PM me.

Best wishes,
Chris

I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...

My mom was thinking of going to the wake, so I'll probably go too.

It's so stupid, the person who killed him was a 39 year old guy. It's all because one of the two victims' girlfriends got into a fight with the 39 year old's girlfriend earlier so the guys all got into a fight, and so Brandon was killed and the other injured but the injuries are non life-threatening.

He's a 39 YEAR OLD MAN. He should act like the grown up and not pick a fight with a bunch of teenagers over something petty. And now look what happened.

Brandon's gone too soon.

EDIT: They arrested the guy who did it, thankfully!

Let it come and let it be...
