Question sisters mother in-law??? do strangers care more then i do??? - May 4th 2009, 02:10 PM

well a few months ago i watched on the news about an elderly lady who had been in a hit and run and died...i though "how sad" but didnt think too much about it but ppl where really getting rialed up about it and i searched the net and found forum topics about it and everything...anyway a few days ago i found out that it was my sisters mother-in-law (i have nothing to do with my sister or her family...in fact i hav an intervention order against her) but i didnt get to upset at all...its like it hasnt even touched my life except 4 that one thought and thinking of how my poor nefews are feeling (i hav found out through family that they blame themselves...poor kids...they are only 7,3 n 2)

is this wrong...i mean all these strangers are mose upset about it then me and they didnt know her where i had met her (i wasnt that close to her)...yet i dont even feel a thing???

Hey, Rhiannon.

Death affects everyone in different ways. Some people make peace with the fact that people die every day, sometimes in unfortunate and shocking circumstances. If we all hurt for every person, in the way we hurt when a loved one passes, I'm not sure we could take it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's okay you're not too torn up over this--it sounds like you didn't know your sister's mother in law very well.

It's understandable that you're concerned for your nephews. I do think they'll be alright, though, as I'm sure their parent's are taking care of them and ensuring they're getting the help they need and making sure they have someone to talk to.

Take care of yourself and let me know if you need anything.

Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us.
I told you to be patient
I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced
I told you to be kind
