Not sure how to feel right now. - March 2nd 2015, 06:30 PM

An acquaintance of mine passed away last night after losing a battle with AML Leukemia.

I never really knew it that well but this is still something very sad to me. He graduated the year before me. He was class valedictorian. He was attending college. In high school he was the president of the National Honor Society the year I got in, he participated in Skills USA, and he participated in the Youth Forum. I participated in these activities as well. So I did know who he was.

He had a huge heart and that never changed, even when he was ill. I knew he was a great person who could have gone so far.

This hits close to home for other reasons as well. My family is full of cancer survivors and I lost someone to cancer last year as well. Not only that, but my cousin survived the same type of leukemia, AML Leukemia. So in my mind I know that it could have just as easily been my cousin.

It started hitting me the most when my cousin made a post saying that he survived the same type of leukemia and he wished there was more he could do. That hurt.

He was nineteen years old. His birthday was on March 6th, he would have been twenty in just five days. He was so young, it's not fair.

This cancer took him quickly too. It's like he just got diagnosed and all of the sudden he's gone.

Let it come and let it be...

I am really sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose someone and I can't begin to imagine how you feel. I don't have many words to say but do know I'm here if you need to talk.

Stay strong <3

I'm so sorry about this. I hope you, his family, and all his friends are doing okay.
