My grandfather who had a stroke, hospice confirmed - August 3rd 2017, 01:00 AM

The doctors say he has serious brain damage and will never talk or swallow again. Like my other grandfather, my pessimistic side saw it coming .

I am really sorry to hear about this. This must be incredibly difficult.

Would you feel comfortable visiting your grandfather while he's in hospice care? It may be difficult to see him in such bad shape, but he'd probably appreciate the visit and it could help you a little bit as well. If you don't feel comfortable that is okay. You have to do what you feel is best for you.

Maybe you could lean on other people in your family for support. People who were in your grandfather's life likely have different memories and stories to share and doing that, or even just being present with someone in your life can be therapeutic in itself. Try to remember to reach out if you need it, and allow yourself to feel what you're feeling .

I will be thinking of you.

Well I've seen him twice already and hope he'll still be alive Monday. I'm tough emotionally so it won't be a massive problem.

It is good that you have a lot of emotional strength but even so, it would be understandable for you to struggle with this.

Is there anything in particular that you'd like to share about your grandfather or how you're feeling?

I'm sorry to hear your grandfather passed away. It sounds like he was a really strong man and put up a good old fight.
I know you said you're tough emotionally, but if you need a chat or want to talk about him my inbox is open and I'm happy to listen if you need me to. It's ok to not be so strong too, so grieve in the best way for you, and let yourself be weak if that's what will help.

I hope you're staying strong.

Sorry to hear your grandfather died. But as it's been said, he really did sound like a strong man to keep fighting. Here if you need anything
