Unhappy R.I.P Melissa - June 14th 2009, 11:33 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

It's been 8 months now since my best friend Melissa killed herself. I still really miss her and find it hard to live without her.

She was the only one that were there for me all the time and helped me through hard time.

It's killing me to know that I didn't do enough to help her, that I didn't see before it was too late.

She was such a wonderful person, and I'll miss her forever.

Rest In Peace Mel

Hey there, Sasha.

I want to, first, apologize for taking so long to reply to your thread. Sometimes we all get a little busy and caught up in things and miss a thread or two. If that ever happens in the future, please feel free to PM me; I will personally make sure you get at least one reply. =)

I cannot tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I lost a friend, just over one year ago, to suicide, and coping with that has been extremely difficult for me. It sounds like it has been hard for you, too. Losing someone to suicide is sudden and heartbreaking. Sometimes we have no idea a person is hurting until they are gone from us, and it really does leave us with a lot of questions.

I hope you know, though, Sasha, that Melissa made a choice and although it hurts you, there is nothing you could have done. Sometimes wonderful people cannot find a reason to hold on and to live life; it is tragic and I know that nothing I can tell you will make things easier, but one day you will be able to make peace with your loss.

Always remember that the past is yours. You cannot make new memories with Melissa, but each and every one you have of her is yours to keep, forever. Cherish those memories and let her live on, in your heart; you never have to be without her.

Take care and please let me know if you ever need anything; I'm only a PM away.

Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us.
I told you to be patient
I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced
I told you to be kind
