Cousin - July 15th 2009, 08:30 PM

My cousin passed away on July 13th. I am taking the loss of him very well, which is odd, since we were best friends pretty much. Not looking forward to the day that it finally hits me

I Know its hard. It will become more real after a few days, even at the funeral. But just be strong because thats what they would have wanted for you and they want you to be happy and celebrate there life and how good it was.

best of luck

Hey Brittany (:

I know how unreal it can feel right after loosing someone special. So much of you doesn't want to believe they're gone that it's easy to slip into a state of semi-denial. You have people who can support you through this who will be there for you when the weight of this loss finally hits you. Talking about what happened with someone you trust and trying to slowly work through your feelings can help so much in the time being. You may not even feel like this is something you need to talk about but if you bottle it up or try to ignore it that will only make things worse for you in the end. One thing that has helped me is using creative ways to express myself through art when I can't find the words to say. Finding a healthy way to cope is important and it can do a tremendous amount of good. If you ever want to talk to someone about this feel free to PM me anytime. I know what it is like to lose a friend like this and I'll do my best to help you if you need me. Take care and hang in there. You can make it through this.

Lots of love<3 Mimi

Hey Brittany. I'm sorry that you lost your cousin, I know that losing someone is really hard to deal with, even though it doesn't quite hit us at times until later on. But when things do get tough because of your loss, you have people that are in the same boat as you are - your family, for instance. They'll be hurting just as much, and you'll have them there to understand what you are going through. Don't feel bad for not grieving instantly, it's understandable and happens to a lot of people. But I'm sure that when you start to feel more affected by what has happened, you'll be able to get through all of this just fine. You still carry a bit of your cousin with you everywhere you go, because he's someone that you will never forget.

PM me anytime if you ever need to talk.
