another passes the rainbow bridge and I feel bad - January 22nd 2009, 08:05 AM

I hate writing such a depressing post but I feel so bad. My morning started far too horrible. I guess I'll explain everything.

I woke up to my mom in the study where I was sleeping going through my kitty cat's "toy box" which is a teeny cardboard box, and she was putting the toys in something else. I had to ask her, "Mom what's going on." That's when the news hit me, my rat (who was 1 1/2) had died.

I still kind of blame myself for what happened. It was a few months ago when I was carrying Saya to get checked out by my mom because I thought Saya was skinnier than usual (that's because she was old), anyways she wiggled a certain way and she went falling to the tile floor (yikes! now i feel like such an animal abuser though it wasn't my fault!). She wasn't the same after that, she kept on having neurological problems like she couldn't walk right and kept having seizures (which again's from old age). I know I feel stupid not brining her to the vet but there are no vets in the area that take "exotic" animals. I thought it'd be fine she wasn't in any pain, and was really fighting and acting like a normal rat (except for he fact she had nerve problems) so you know I wasn't going to bring her to the vet unless I thought she was really suffering. About two months ago, she had some normal sinus trouble sneezing, and unable to breathe (that was tought to watch), anyways she pulled throught that like a trooper. And just this morning I guess that was it. I feel bad for her sister Roxy.

if anybody is curious on what my poor little ratty looked like and would like to see some pictures i wrote a journal entry about her this morning http://my.kiwibox.com/journals/journal.asp?id=320295&mode=0

Aww she's gorgeous.
I'm so sorry Jennifer.
But it totally wasn't your fault I hope you realize that.

I'm so sorry, and she is beautiful.
It was not your fault. Hopefully one day you will see that.
It's okay to be upset and grieve.
I hope you feel better soon.
