Going, Going.... Almost Gone. - October 29th 2009, 09:19 PM

Today, I found out that a friend of mine has been secretly fighting a disease that pretty much deteriorates his kidneys and other vital organs from the inside out for almost a year. According to his doctor its a very rare disease and people usually die within 4-5 years of being diagnosed. He went to the doctor yesterday and was told that the disease was moving rapidly and he is expected to have at max 6 months to live. This guy is one of the nicest people I know and I'm scared for the day when I get the call saying he passed away. I have dealt with death in the past, when my dad suddenly past away when I was 14 but this seems different. He is so young and he has so much to look forward to. I'm not even sure how to react anymore.

Hey Shelby,

It must have been a great shock and so much to take in to find out this. It never seems right when someone is so young and they are going through something like this. It kind of makes you appreciate life more and everything you have got. I can't even imagine how hard this is for you and it might even be bringing up painful things about your dad. But if you ever need someone to talk then I am always here. You don't have to go through all of this alone because it is so much to deal with.

Stay strong.

Hi, do you happen to know what the disease is called. I know someone with Lupus disease and im not sure if its the same one.
Anyway this person I know was told she had 1 hour to live...this was 4 years ago. Shes now 20 and fully recovered...kind of like a miracle really. Just keep praying for your friend and he might just get better.
