My friend's old kindergarten teacher, who she's always been close to, died from cancer

Who do you carry that torch for, my young man?
Do you believe in anything?
Or do you carry it around just to burn things down?

Meet me tonight on the turnpike my darling,
where we believe in everything.
If we sweat all these debts then we're sure to drown,
so let's strap ourselves up to this engine now
with our God who we found laying under the back seat.

My old tutor died from a brain hemerage a couple of years ago. She was more than a teacher to me, she was almost like a friend. I didn't even get chance to say goodbye..

I'm so sorry to hear that. I almost lost my Middle School music teacher to an asthma attack... I'm so glad he's okay. I can't imagine losing one of my teachers that I loved.

peace and love

I did but I never knew him. He was the resistant materials teacher. Very close to my form tutor, he had a heart attack when he went swimming at lunch apparently.

I know how hard it can be to lose someone who has the kind of impact that a teacher does on your life.

One of my profs who was like a father figure to me died of a heart attack.

RIP John

A fourth grade teacher at my school died in childbirth a couple of years ago. I never had her class, but those who did absolutely loved her. She had a daughter in middle school at our school at the time as well, which was so sad.

I lost my 4th grade teacher. She was going in for surgery and the anesthesia made her sick. They sent her home too early and she died in her sleep. This was three years ago, I'm still close to my old fifth grade teacher (she began teaching at a really young age) and we had this glass case for announcements. We got the kids to paint it purple (her fave color, the kids loved her) and they brought in flowers and made their own memorial for her in the glass case. It's still there today.

I lost a teacher when I was in 5th grade. He was Indonesian, and he was super awesome. He was diagnosed with cancer and going through chemo. He was hospitalized the second half of the year, his wife took over and we would write him letters, and he'd write to us too. I still have the last letter I got from him.

Re: Lost teacher... - February 3rd 2009, 08:42 PM

The absolute best english teacher in the entire world. She got fired for taking a personal day to go see a play. So that was alot of up roar. Then we here this year that she got ill and has been in the hospital for awhile nowand just passed away. It was the most devestating thing ever. I mean, she was the best teacher i've ever had in my 12 years of school. She was just like us. She didn't care if you swore and she let you write your essays on whatever or whoever you wanted. She was just the highlight of my school year. She brought it video tapes of "house" her favorite show. She was just the greatest inspiration someone like me could ever have in a teacher, and to hear she passed away. It just broke my heart. I still miss her. But she will always be apart of me because she unlike most teachers made a difference in my life.

(no one is going to read this or comment it. but it's nice to at least let it out)

Re: Lost teacher... - February 3rd 2009, 09:52 PM

I lost the best English teacher I ever had to a heart attack in the 7th grade. He was an awesome guy, but there were these two girls in the class that couldn't stand him. So when we got into class one day, and he wasn't there - now, mind you, this guy was always there - and when people started to ask where he was and no one would tell us, everyone was like, "oh, he caught the stomach bug going around." But not those two girls. One turns to the other and says, "Haha, maybe he died. Then I won't have to write this ridiculous paper."

The next day in class, we got the news that while he was jogging, he collapsed and died of a heart attack. It was dreadfully sad. My friends and I were in tears; my boyfriend at the time was even crying. But those two girls? They snickered and weren't emotional at all.

): It was sad. I'll never forget it.

an amazing teacher at my old high school just passed away at the beginning of the year. He died in a plane crash, he was a piolt. He flew in competition and something went wrong with his plane. There was a big rememberance for him and funeral. I hope they do a memorial at the school for him.

Re: Lost teacher... - February 4th 2009, 12:27 PM

I was on the swim team, and our swim coach died from breast cancer, it was horrible, and most of us actually quit the team at the end of that year, as the woman that replaced her was horrible... and the whole atmosphere just disappeared.
She was a really lovely lady and she taught so many people to swim.
Also, there was a support teacher at my school, and although she didn't teach me I knew her really well as she was my friend's mum. She died of a brain tumour about four years ago. That was awful because she was a family friend, not just a teacher.

I'm really sorry for all your losses, PM me if you ever need to talk.

Re: Lost teacher... - February 4th 2009, 07:19 PM

I lost a teacher to a tragic accident. but she was more than a teacher she was one of my friends mom. it hit hard.

I say tragic accident because it was just that. Some idiot was driving dunk through town and ran off the road hitting Hardee's a fast food resturant where said teacher and a few fellow teachers where eating at the time. she is the only one who passed away but one of them will never be able to walk again.

One moment i was laughing about a truck hitting hardee's over the scanner, the next minute i hear them page out any available help because there were multiple injuries. about an hour later my friend called me hysterical they had shipped her mom to memphis to a trama unit but she did in the helicopter. the rest of the night i sat in my room in shock scared to death because i didn't know what to do. i didn't know how to be there for april.
