Question in a state i dont know what to do - March 21st 2010, 09:05 AM

I rescued a leopard gecko (lizard) from a friend of a friend thrusday night, the little gecko was so skinny and ill that i didnt think she would make it through the night. she did and the got her to the vet mid day on friday... the vet said to try and get her eating etc etc and bring her back in about a weeks time if no improvment.

Well she thought she would give up on life itself last night and she died about 12ish... I tried to not get attached but i have found myself having random brusts of tried. Not a 100% knowing what i want to do and feel really emontional...

What can I do ?

Hello there Charlie. I hope you are doing well now.
Well, what exactly are you feeling, sadness ? Confusion ? or both ?

Whether it is one or both time will help you much. So just be patient ok.
If you are confused , then just take control of your thoughts, organize and then go on with life. If it is sadness then time is the only thing to mind about. But both of these go along with patience. And go on with your life while still remembering the young lizard.

I came here to help out, so if you wanna talk or just need someone to bounce ideas or issues off of or something else then send me a message and I will reply as soon as I can.

Awh hun it's easy to get attached to something that you're looking after and that depends on you in some way. but please don't feel guilty about the fact that she died, you nkow that you did all you could. It's crap when pets die, I'm sorry to hear that happened . But the only thing you can really do is try and accept that she died and to put it behind you, and don't blame yourself!! I hope you're ok pet. xx

thank for the help guys.

after some tearful nights and day i finaly have come to grips with things. Thought it through and thought that i paid for her to go to the vet, followed what he said and i couldnt of possibly of done anything better for her. I still remember her and still got pictures, and myself and mom still talk about the gecko but it doesnt bring tears to my eyes.

but to add a little hope and good news to the thread i am expecting some baby lizards to be on the way shortly
