My friend passed on - November 12th 2010, 09:21 AM

Today a friend of mine died from Leukemia. She's had it since she was 5 years old and battled it her whole life. Two years ago, when she was in remission, she decided that if the cancer came back she would not continue treatment.

We all knew she was going to die someday soon, but the shock and grief of it was much greater than we thought it was going to be. When the word got around at school, everywhere I looked people were weeping and holding onto each other. Our Guidance Officer's room was packed. People were passing out. Mikayla touched so many of our lives. She was smart, beautiful and bubbly, despite the sickness that ravaged her body. She inspired us all.

How can someone so amazing have this fate? It's not fair.

I'm so sorry, Jodie.

It really isn't fair that she lost her life to this. I can only imagine how painful this is for you. If you need someone to talk to I'm always happy to chat via VM or PM.

Try to take comfort in the fact that she was so bubbly and inspirational despite her illness. It sounds like she was a very strong person who tried to make the most out of her life. So even though she suffered, she kept fighting it and did her best to enjoy life. Whenever you feel ready, just try to remember her that way.

Take care, Jodie. I hope you're as OK as you can be at a time like this.

Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.

It's perfectly fine to be a happy individual.

Take off at the speed of sound...
