This Thursday, Novemeber 19..
Will be the one year anniversary of my grandfathers passing.. Everyone in my family.. (including me) is taking it so hard already and that days not even here yet.. I just know that we are all going to break down alot when Thursday actually comes.. What are somethings that we could do so as not to absolutely lose it? I've had a friend say that we should do a memory thing where we just talk about him and look at pictures and everything.. But I don't really think that would help.. That would just make me more depressed... What should we do? =( Brittany

Hey Brittany.
I'm really sorry to hear of your Grandfathers passing, I know it must be really hard on you and your family. Just know that it will get easier through time... I have to say, I do agree with your friend about discussing memories. I know in theory it sounds like something that would be extremely hard to do and would just bring out more emotion, but you would be extremely surprised. You need to be remembering your Grandfather in all his glory... He isn't just a man that once lived, he had a life so you need to be celebrating that life past, not mourning the end of it. I'm sure he lived a truly wonderful life and you can now take from that and enrich your lives. It's going to be a highly emotional day in itself, no one expects people to not be upset or grieve because it is a tragic loss. You just simply have to remember all of the good times you had, have a laugh about the daft things he's done through the times. You don't ever have to forget those times, you should embrace them and in that, you're embracing his life, and paying a lovely tribute to that. |
