My Coworker Has Died Today -

Around two months ago one of my coworkers was hospitalized as a result of lung cancer and brain lesions, likely a result of her long-term smoking habit. She was released after a couple weeks of chemo and appeared in very good spirits, everyone in the office was hopeful for a positive recovery. However shortly afterwards she was hospitalized again, and to my understanding she was in and out of the hospital for the past several weeks. A few days ago I overheard that it was now terminal and she was now on hospice care, which took me by surprise. Today I received an email that she has passed away this morning.

I'm sorry that you are having to experience this kind of loss. It's hard no matter who it is, but especially when we lose someone who was a constant presence in our life. You'll get through this though, okay? Talk to the people around you and keep moving forward. If you want to talk, whether it be about her or what you're going through, my PM box is always open. Today was the first day back at work since I got the news. My coworkers were also taking it a bit hard as well. But together we are strong.
