Does anyone else do this? - March 6th 2011, 10:53 PM

I'm not sure if this is the correct category, move it if it isn't.

I have two stuffed animals that I got shortly after the death of my grandfather almost four years ago.
One stuffed animal is a white bear that I got at a craft fair, and the other is a stuffed lion that was first in my grandfather's house, then in the nursing home with him before he died. Every night I first kiss the white bear and tell everyone in my life who has died I love them (My godmother, my godmother's father, my grandfather, and a friend). Then, I kiss the stuffed lion and once again say goodnight to my grandfather. If I can't get to the stuffed animals, I will at least think a goodnight to them.

Does anyone else do this or something similar to this, or is it just me? It could be because I never fully got over their deaths, but I'm not sure.

I don't think doing things like this is very uncommon. You're using the stuffed animals to represent the people that you have lost so that you have something tangible and real to hold on to. As long as you don't let it get out control I think it's ok.
