Question Missing... - March 4th 2009, 06:27 PM

I know this sounds silly but I just want someone to know. I lost our pet birds a few years ago. I was so sad at first, people accepted that I was sad, but now they just think I'm looking for attention. I'm not. Nw I still miss then even thought it was 2 years ago. No-one understands they won't hold me and let me know everything will be ok, they think I'm just looking for attention. I have told them I'm not, they just don't believe me. I just miss them so much. Am I looking for attention? I just don't know...

hey XxBrokenSmilesxX! It's fine that you're still sad. In fact, it's totally normal! You're not looking for attention, you're just sad and you're talking about it which is really good! Have you thought about gaining closure? Maybe getting a new pet? Maybe you should try writing about your feelings in a journal or the blogs on the site. If you ever need someone to talk to you can PM me anytime. See you around!

I agree with Molly, it's normal to be upset over the death of a loved one for a long time. Healing comes at a different paste for everyone. Perhaps, as Molly suggested, writing about how you are feeling will help. Maybe write a collections of poems in memory of your bird. There are other birds out there thought that would love to have a home, so maybe look into getting a new pet. Not just a bird, but maybe a dog! Dogs are cute =]

Personal story: I lost two of my favorite bamboo plants a while ago, it was really sad considering I used to talk to them and such. But, anyways, I ended up having a small funeral with my family for them in the backyard, wrote out a sign for them and stuff. It was nice to put them at rest/peace. I also bought more bamboo, and couldn't be happier with them!

I hope you feel better, feel free to talk to me anytime =]
I can try to understand,

HAHAHAHA Amy you are such a freak about the bamboo

As mentioned before it is perfectly normal to miss a pet after they have passed. Hell I still miss Mr.Kitty and he has been gone for 6+ years!! What you're feeling is completely understandable especially since pets tend to become part of your family . Keep them in your memory but try not to let it get you down. Maybe think about getting a new pet to fill the void?

As long as we can dream, there will be unicorns.

No I don't think you're looking for attention. Sometimes with animals you're really close to them just like a human. So of course when an animal dies you're going to think about your pet all the time. I've had tons of animals die in my life and each one of them still are in my memory and I cry about them every once in a while.

You can't live a positive life with a negative mind and if you have a positive outcome you have a positive income and just to have more positivity and just to kind of laugh it off. ~ Miley Cyrus
