One of our own - May 31st 2011, 03:17 PM

A few days ago (28th May '11 -- 6.30 pm Indian Time) I got information from Erika (lostandalone) that one of our very own THers, Mary (loveflamingos) lost her battle with cancer.
She was a wonderful little girl, so talented -- her poetry bringing tears to peoples' eyes. She was sweet, and always willing to offer a helping hand that was always accompanied with a smile. She was so cheerful and so sincere, and loved people with all her heart. And she did all this while fighting that cancer and without a mum.
She inspired me, gave me great strength, and I would like to dedicate this thread to her, as a tribute to her life.
If anyone would like to say anything about her, whether you knew her well or not, please feel free to do so.
She was very young, and yet she touched peoples' hearts and mine in a way I never thought possible. And even though she fought real hard, I do know that she is at peace, and with her mother again.
I thank her for all that she has been and all that she has done. She was a wonderful friend to me. I would just like her to know that I loved her and still do love her very much, and that I always have her in my heart.

~Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved.
Concrete Angel.

Mary was an absolute inspiration to all. She was willing to help anybody whenever she could and her talented poetry fixated us all at some point. She was a wonderful little being and loved and cared for others so much. Mary went through so much and battled on through all her hardships but now she's finally in peace reunited with her mother.
I miss her so much and will always love her.

This is really sad. I talked to Mary quite often so it's sad to know that I'll never speak to her again

My thoughts are with her family.

Re: One of our own - June 4th 2011, 02:41 AM

Mary was an amazing person. She had to endure abuse and twice fight cancer, in addition to the traditional problems a teen has. Yet, she was always attentive and supportive of people. She was always ready to listen. One always felt better after a chat with her.
Its only when one reads her poems that the depth of her pain, lonelyness, forgivness and strength is revealed. Mary had such a talent when it came to writing. Each poem was crafted with thought and expressivness that touched us all.
She was so easy to talk to, and had such a quick wit.
There are two songs that will forever remind me of her. One is "One Love" which was her favourite. The other is "Breathe (2am)" which she identified with.
I will miss our chats, her sweet and caring nature.. rest peacefully Mary

I was shocked when I heard the news too. It's a sad time when someone who has touched so many peoples hearts passes away, but all we can hope now is that she was at rest and that her last moments were peacful and painless. Her poetry is what I remember her for, she had an amazing talent and it's a shame she couldn't share it with more of the world as I'm sure they would be greatful of it aswell. She truely deserves to be at peace now, and with her mother I'm sure she will be.

It's nice to have this thread here, I'm sure she'd highly appreciate all the love she has got here. She was a well loved member of TeenHelp, and while she may not be here in person, she's here in memory and imbedded deep in the hearts of all those she touched.

Rest in Peace, Mary.

I feel terrible...I didn't even know she was sick. Not that I knew her very well at all but her name would be around the forums quite a lot.... wow. I'm glad she's found the peace she deserves. She'll be well missed. xx

This is sad. I never knew she was struggling with cancer, and when I read some of her poems in the Self Expression sub forum, I in fact encouraged her to take her writing abilities further in the future. Song writing for example. She could have easily managed it. Really a shame it couldn't turn out that way. I'm kinda speachless. I haven't got much else to say right now.

The world is a much poor place without Mary. Her strength and forgivness was truely inspirasional. Never put on pretentices, never did things to show off.

She was an amazing person. Her poems are snapshots of her life at the time they were written, but so wonderfully crafted that it was easy to relate to parts or all of them.

Mary was so warm and freindly. She helped out at the hospital by talking to some of the other patients, just so that they won't feel alone. She had seen a number of them pass away, but she still kept going on. Fighting.

She made me feel not alone, I hope I was able to make her feel the same. I miss her.

I remember going through her blog entries recently and I loved this poem. I thought it might be nice to repost it here. This is entirely Mary's work. Not mine.

As I left during the night
I traveled to the light
I could not believe what I had found
What I saw would truly astound

It is like no life existed before today
Before any disease ravages a body away

Joy and happiness replaced all pain and sorrow
Leaving family and friends to carry on tomorrow
Family and friends for me who cared
Carry with you the love we shared

It is like no life existed before today
Before any disease ravages a body away

For all whom did know me
Take solace in my being set free
This dreamer girl reached the sky
Finally given her wings to fly

It is like no life existed before today
Before any disease ravages a body away

I believe in pink<3

Indigo... That is a perfect poem to post here!! It helps to deal with her loss. It is so typical Mary...wanting us to be happy and not be sad for her.

Re: One of our own - June 13th 2011, 06:48 PM

I'm sorry to say that I haven't had a chance to meet her. But, if she's as kind and inspirational as you say, then I wish I did have a chance to meet her. I think I do remember seeing her around, but I've been gone so long I don't remember.

RIP Mary. I know how hard dealing with something like that can be.

Edit: I remember her now. I just went through her blog and saw one that I had remembered seeing. I remember thinking how I could totally relate. It was that same poem that inspired my poem that I had to write for class. I remembered it, but I couldn't remember from where. I wished I could have talked to her, but my confidence was so low that I didn't know what to do. I wanted her to know that her poetry partly inspired mine. I only know her by her poems, but I wish I knew her better.

I became very close to Mary, we talked about many things and could relate pretty well to eachother. Mary's poetry touched anyone who read it. She was such a smart girl and so mature for her age. She cared so much and was willing to help anyone she could. I truely miss her. Mary, you will have a place in my heart forever.

This song was my mommy's favorite and I play it for her when I go to visit her grave, even though I am not Christian this song means a lot to me. I feel it is fitting to place here:

Forever Young by Rod Stewart
May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young
Forever Young

And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young ,Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
For, Forever Young, Forever Young

I will miss Mary. She was the first one to greet me when I entered chat. She was the sweetist person I ever met. She was a great writer, had a lot of talent.
I never got a chance to know her too well, but she did leave a huge impression on me. Her poems are so completely moving.

She was the only one to befreind me on this site. She gave me this link to cheer me up when I was not feeling too good about myself. (While she was fighting her cancer, but still took time to care about others) http://img10.glitterfy.com/graphics/..._beautiful.gifhttp://img10.glitterfy.com/graphics/..._beautiful.gif

Here Mary this is for you now. Please enjoy the Peace you have found.

But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved.

To All the TeenHelpers,
I don't believe I personally spoke to Mary, but I had seen her around. This deeply saddens me to know that we have lost someone that was loved by many, and that will truly be missed by all. May she finally find peace, and let us know that she has no more pain and suffering to endure due to the unthinkable disease.
I shall say a prayer for her and for her family this evening, and wish that they get through this terrible time together.
<3 Rest in Peace, Mary. TeenHelp and it's members will never forget you.

I have never met a kinder and generous person as Mary. Talking to her, I always forgot she was just 14. She talked and wrote with maturity. We have lost a wonderful person. Her writing just just simply awsome. I will miss her very much.

I remember talking to her a few times, and she was very sweet and smart. She was someone who was beyond her years. I wish I knew more about her.

I will miss her lots, and hug her all the time in my mind.
