Question I'm Still Not Upset - July 8th 2011, 10:24 PM

Hey,
My grandpa died about a month ago and, well, I wasn't sad when it happened. It was a very sudden death as well, if he had been suffering I would understand it but I just don't understand why I'm not sad. I thought it may have been a delayed reaction but even now one month later I'm not feeling at all upset.

I never liked my grandpa that much. I wouldn't say I hated him but I always dreaded going to their house. But I always thought I would be upset if he died. Did he really mean that little to me?

The strange thing is when my goldfish died I cried for a few days. Is there something wrong with me? Has this happened to anyone else?

My grandpa died a few months ago and I was never sad at any point either, when people you don't see often or like you said "don't like that much" die it tends to be easier to take in. And personally one of my set of grandparents which I loved dearly died when I was younger (one when i was maybe 4 and the other at around like 12) and I never cried, or really got that upset, I think I was more upset by my dog dieing recently. I don't see anything weird in it, if an immediate family member died, I'd probably be very upset on the other hand.

Poor little tin man.. still swinging his axe, even though his joints are clogged with rust.

Life for you has been less than kind
So take a number, stand in line
We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt
But how we survive is what makes us who we are.

And the day pressed on like crushing weights,
For no man does it ever wait.

I try my best.

My grandmother died just over two month's ago. I had lived with her all my life, and spent the last three years caring for her as her health deteriorated. You could say we were very close, yet I hated her, she treated me very baddly even when she was ill. I was never really close to her.

I dident want anyone to know at first, I was too happy. My mum told school anyway, and they all did exacly as I thought (wich is why I dident want them to know) They all expected me to be sad, and made me talk about it all, ect.. They wouldent realise that I was happy that she had died, and that talking about it made me worse.

Yet two mont's on I am beginging to miss her.
The truth is that we are all different. Some people may be sad from the seccond someone dies. other's it may take months, some even longer. I expect that you will be sad at somepoint, simply because you knew her.

Take care
